Laura Elaine Romaniak

Laura Elaine Romaniak (nee Chatellier) died April 1, 2015 in The Whiting Health Care Center. She was 84. Born in Spring Lake, she lived most of her life in Kearny before retiring to Whiting. Visiting, Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Armitage Wiggins Funeral Home 596 Belgrove Drive Kearny. Mass Tuesday 10 a.m. in Queen of Peace and burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Wife of the late Charles Romaniak, Laura is survived by her children and their spouses Elaine and Robert Buchs, Barbara Urban (late Richard), John and Gloria Romaniak, Charles Romaniak, Mark and Rose Romaniak and Paul and Jennifer Romaniak. Sister of John L. Chatellier, Donald Chatellier, Jeannette Payne and Barbara Syme. Also surviving are her grandchildren Christopher Buchs, Jennifer Podehl, Laurie Derco, Richard Urban, and Katie, Nicole, Charles, Valerie, Justin and Evan Romaniak along with her great grandchildren Jack, Sam, Lillian, Annmarie, Danielle, Leigha, Gianna, Storm and Violet.

Mrs. Romaniak was a proud member of the Daughters of The American Revolution since 1976. In 1984 she was Founder and Regent of The New Barbados Neck Chapter of The D.A.R. She was a member of The N.J. Mayflower Society, The New England Woman Colony of the Oranges, Daughter of American Colonist, United States Daughters of 1812 and 30 year active adult member of American Girl Scout Council.

She was a Frequent lecturer on topics related to the American Revolution. She co-authored the book "Showdown At Truckee" which told the story of one of her ancestors. She was also a long time member of The Whiting First Aid Squad.
